Ag Penrose

Agatha 'Ag' Penrose is a fictional character in the BBC soap, Doctors. She is portrayed by Lynda Baron and first appeared on 9 November 2010 and left on 12 December 2010. Lynda Baron confirmed that 'Auntie Ag' was to return in December 2011, it has since been confirmed that she'll be arriving back on 15 December to spend Christmas with the Hollins family.

Character Background

Introduction (December 2010)

Auntie Ag first appeared on 9 December 2010, as a hard-faced Christian, not afraid to speak her mind. It became known that she isn't liked by the female members of the Hollins family; Imogen and Karen but is very popular with her nephew, Rob and great nephew Jack. She frequently attacks Karen and Immie with her acid tongue and harsh put-downs, but all they can do is bite their tongues as Rob and Ag are very close. On the other hand, Ag openly favourites the men in the family, which rirals Karen and Imogen. She was only seen for three episodes and she left on 12 December to returned to Harrogate, where she lives by her sister, Mary and niece, Megan. She is open about her disaproval of Rob's father, Billy and often mentions how bad a father he was to Rob.

Reaction

Auntie Ag proved popular with the 'Doctors' fans and cast members. Baron went along to the British Soap Awards 2011 as a Doctors cast member.

Return (December 2011)

In November 2011, it was confirmed that Lynda Baron and Auntie Ag were to return to Doctors in December. Many fans reacted with joy as she had proven very popular, she is said to return on 15 December to spend Christmas with the Hollins' contray to Karen's plans.
